Legal Software Only!

At MicroReplay we only sell computers which are installed with legal, licensed software. You never have to worry that something you purchased from us has counterfeit or pirated software loaded on it.

When a computer manufacturer sells a new computer, the computer comes preloaded with an operating system and other applications as part of the deal. The provides the customer with an easy initial experience: just turn the power on and you are ready to go. The manufacturer often provides a set of restore disks with the computer which can be used to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the operating system and application programs that originally came with the system.

This creates a problem for used computer resellers like MicroReplay. Often times these disks get lost in the shuffle and are unavailable later when the computer is sold. Here is the problem: Many used computers which are offered for sale have been restored and the applications have been reloaded, but the sellers keep the restore disks to use on future systems. This is illegal. It violates the law and the End User License Agreements. In this situation both the buyer and the seller are at risk. Using such software puts the buyer at risk for civil and/or criminal prosecution, along with the seller (who made the illegal copies in the first place).

So how does MicroReplay reinstall system and application software when we don't have the original disks? The answer is: we don't do it. All of our computers are clearly marked as to whether they have restore disks and which versions they have.

If we buy a system without original restore disks, we attempt to obtain them legally from the computer manufacturer. Often times we are able to get them and there is no problem. We use the restore disks to restore that particular computer and then we give the disks to the new owner, along with the computer. If we cannot get the disks from the manufacturer, we offer for sale (or include in the price) a new, licensed copy of an appropriate operating system, or we sell the computer without an operating system.

With MicroReplay you will never have worry that you are buying a computer with software installed that could cause you a problem. You always get legitimate, licensed software.

Don't buy a computer from anyone who does not provide you with a set of operating system and application disks for the operating systems and applications that are installed on that computer. Unless you have the original disks, you have no way of knowing if the software installed will even work correctly. You also will be unable to reinstall your computer in the event of a hardware or software failure (such as a virus).

When you compare prices, make sure the seller is including legal, licensed software, for which you are given all the disks, manuals, and certificates of authenticity.
